RH

Retouching Direction | Art Direction | Project & Team Management | Cross Team Collaboration

A luxury brand in a crowded home furnishings landscape, RH (Restoration Hardware) made a strategic decision to prioritize print catalogs in a crowded field of furniture & home furnishing brands. Their source books are magazine quality, incorporating storytelling about the craftspeople and designers behind their products. Huge amounts of care and attention go into the effort to produce their books across the RH brands, including Core, Modern, Outdoor, Baby & Child, & Teen. As a brand that differentiates itself through sourcing the highest quality materials & incorporating unique details, high end retouching is key to the success of their marketing strategy.

Color was critical to minimize customer dissatisfaction & elevate the vision of the product lines. Supply chain issues often resulted in not being able to receive all iterations of a product in time for shooting, so many products needed to be reconstructed from pieces. Materials needed to look high end & understood as real wood, not composite veneer. Deadlines were always tight, & these complex images could take days to build & color correct, creating consistency in product lines across spreads. Strong project & team management was key to getting through the work efficiently & to the very high standards set at the executive level.
